Completely stress free, this experience sets off to the countryside (North coast of the Island) to find what Madeira’s gastronomy is all about.

With the sea and the lush green cliffs as background, you will be able to do what people from Madeira do best: relax and enjoy a typical meal while sipping a glass of Portuguese wine. Everyone helps to cook the “espetada”, this is the best way to learn how locals have been cooking it for centuries: using fresh beef loin which is seasoned with fresh garlic and salt and simply leave it grill near the red hot coals of a fire.

Our meal starts with grilled limpets “lapas” and will be accompanied by homemade bread with sweet potato, “milho frito” (fried cornmeal) and fresh tropical fruits for dessert. As this is a wine producing village, having a taste of the local homemade wine is a must, so we will visit a local small wine producer and have a glass of wine directly from the barrel.

Vegetarian options are also available.

Hotel pick-up and drop-off

Lunch & Drinks

Local bread baking demonstration

Wine tasting

If you’re a vegetarian or have any kind of allergies, we will try to adapt the menu to your own food restrictions (gluten free, allergies and others…)

Aside from the bread, this experience is suitable to gluten free diets

In the winter season a jumper is recommended

Bring a camera, you’ll want to remember these great places and show them to all to your family and friends
